The East Granby Historical Society proudly maintains the beautiful red barn, just north of the town center in the East Granby Farms park. With a generous endowment, the society built the barn in 2006. Inside the barn, you can sit in a beautifully restored 1850s Concord stagecoach, see a Ford model A truck/tractor hybrid once used on a local farm, and try your hand at weaving on a working antique loom. Open hours are on the second and fourth Sundays of June through October, 2:00-4:00 p.m., and for special events.
Visit the barn at 85 North Main St., East Granby Farms Park, East Granby, CT 06026.
Also visit Old-NewGate Prison. The site is a National Historic Landmark and a State Archaeological Preserve. The copper mine was in operation from 1705 through the 1750s. Connecticut’s first prison was run from 1773 until 1827.
